History
Rand Heer founded Alight in 2005.
Rand's love for financial models and business planning came together at Pillar Corporation, a software company he founded in 1988. Published in seven languages and sold worldwide, Pillar set the early standard for enterprise scale budgeting and planning software. Pillar was acquired by Hyperion Solutions.
After building a series of prototypes of Alight Planning, Rand hired a team of dedicated developers led by Lee Harris, the original VP of Engineering who assembled the Pillar team. The business team, headed by Ben Lamorte and Don Koenes, began selling and installing Alight Planning in early 2006. Lisa Torbin-Shaw and Linda Hull also joined Alight in 2006, bringing huge product knowledge and customer experience from their work with Pillar and other products at Hyperion Solutions.
In January 2008, BPM Partners, a leading business performance management research and advisory firm, named Alight best new vendor for 2008. In BPM Partner's 2009 Pulse Survey of vendors in the business performance management space, Alight was ranked #1 among all vendors in customer satisfaction.
Alight currently has over 250 customers in a broad variety of industries using Alight Planning for budgeting, rolling forecasts, long range and strategic planning, project planning and a variety of other planning activities.
The Alight team continues to aggressively develop the software, improving performance and incorporating new features requested by our customers. The current products, Alight Enterprise and Alight Desktop, are the Version 6.x release of Alight Planning which featured the addition of the Report Writer module, improvements to mutli-user functionality, integration of actuals, scenario analysis, and performance. The company issues product updates about every three months.
