Non-Profit
![]()
Unlike for-profit models that generally have a single Profit and Loss statement, non-profits generally budget by funds & grants across various programs and initiatives. While the basic budget can be simple since non-profits often have fixed dollar amounts for revenue in a given year already locked in, forecasting is all too often neglected. Forecasting is important for tracking and measuring trends throughout the year. Key metrics can be tied to unit of service production; for example, if you are committed to providing 5,000 Units of Service (e.g. bed days or school lunches) in the fiscal year, you need to continuously update the forecast to see trends and have visibility as to where you are projected to end up for the year.
